Since I made the decision to be a full-time writer, I have been voraciously researching, tracking, and working at it 24/7. Well, almost 24/7 --a girl has to break to eat and socialize  --y’all know good food along with good company is a top priority of mine.

I’ve become obsessive about making this work: listening to webinars, visiting blogs and Instagram pages, I’m reading two books right now… I am putting in the work.

However, when my mind isn’t distracted by my goal and it’s quiet, my thoughts volley back and forth between: What am I doing?! Can I really do this? and You’ve got this!

A few years ago, I was at a dinner party chatting with an older woman about my writing and I incredulously tell her, “My dad is always telling me to write a book about my life.”

And she so easily and nonchalantly replies, “Yeah, why would someone want to read that?”

The words that stick with you.

As I’m writing this blog, I keep asking myself that: Why would someone want to read about my journey?...

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Serge and I were out to lunch discussing what my next steps would be since I just lost my six-figure job as an executive assistant (the third E.A. role I’ve had in the last two years; the other two I moved on from due to restructuring).

(This is not the first time a psychic has told me this exact thing, so there must be something there, right?)

Well, I ignored that and stepped into another executive assistant job.

After almost three months, the universe/God basically said, “No, Vanessa, you got it wrong! THIS i...

I'm going to be honest with you, going into this interview, I felt a little intimidated by Catherine, I mean, she’s the recipient of several accolades (an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award, Tony Award); has starred in major films including Chicago, Traffic, Entrapment, and my favorite, No Reservations, and she is Hollywood royalty (on her own and as the wife of Michael Douglas and daughter-in-law of Kirk Douglas).

So when I arrived at Facebook's headquarters in NYC (her new series Queen America is on Facebook Watch and is SO good!), I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was nervous, and I'm never really nervous.

Normally, celebrities are quite nice to me since I am writing about them, but I have had one or two who weren't as, uh, how do I say this? Let's say their personality during our one-on-one didn't match the personality they put out there on talk shows and social media, which is a real disappointment. Anyways... that's a whole other story that I will save for another da...
